Editorial policy

The rules we hold ourselves to, so you can tell whether to trust a page.

Independence

No manufacturer pays for a placement, a ranking, or a score on this site, and none ever will. We do not accept free products in exchange for coverage. Our income comes solely from affiliate commissions on products readers choose to buy — explained in full on our affiliate disclosure — and a commission rate has never changed a ranking. When a cheaper product that pays us less is the better buy, it wins, and we say why.

Accuracy

  • Every factual claim is grounded in a manufacturer specification, published materials science, aggregated owner reviews, or genuine first-hand experience — the four sources described in our methodology.
  • We cite sources by name and link them. "Studies show" with no link is not good enough, and we don't do it.
  • Where we cannot verify something, we say so on the page rather than inventing a figure or quietly omitting it.
  • We never fabricate prices, ratings, review counts, or hands-on testing we did not perform.

No fabricated ratings or quotes

We do not publish customer ratings, quotes, or scores we did not genuinely receive. As a new publisher we have none, so we show none — a clean page beats an invented one. The editorial scores you see are our own judgement from a published rubric, attributed to a real, named editor, and are clearly labelled as such rather than dressed up as aggregated customer feedback.

How picks are chosen

A rank-1 pick is the product we would recommend to a friend for that specific job. We weight real-world value heavily and are explicit about who each product is for — including who should notbuy it. Every product review carries a "don't buy this if…" line for exactly that reason.

Freshness and updates

  • Every guide shows a visible "last updated" date.
  • Prices are refreshed automatically and disappear if they go stale (the 48-hour rule).
  • We review roundups and brand reviews on a regular cadence, and update on-trigger when a product is discontinued, a lineup changes, or a better pick emerges.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and, where it materially changes a recommendation, we note the change. Report an error through our contact page; we aim to correct verified factual mistakes within 48 hours.

AI and authorship

Our content is written and edited under the direction of a real, named editor whose byline and background are described honestly on our about page. We do not publish machine-generated text as though a human vetted it when they did not, and we do not attribute work to a person who did not stand behind it.
